In the current climate, communicating with those we love is becoming difficult. Although social media has become the epicentre of communication, whilst it is important to share photos and videos, the ones most at risk from coronavirus and its consequences may not be able to access this platform. The over 70s, who may not even be able to go out for daily exercise, may not be using this technology, and we risk leaving the most vulnerable isolated if this is our only platform. So we are here today to introduce you to a new initiative that focuses on spreading kindness and thanks to our loved ones by gifting cards.
I myself am self isolating, and received a handwritten card from a friend - so can say first hand how much it means to those who are missing the usual liberties of day to day life. It can really make a difference and brighten the day of our loved ones. Therefore, we are supporting our industry and the Greetings Card Association (GCA) to help bridge the gap while social distancing. Thinking of you is an initiative that was set up in order to spread the happiness and sense of comfort given by hand written cards. The GCA usually launch a week in late September where they aim to spread the positive feelings given by greeting cards, but in this time of social distancing, its messages and values are becoming more urgent than ever. That’s why they, and us here at Joanne Wishart’s gallery, are eager to make every week a Thinking of you week, and encourage you to give small acts of kindness in the form of greeting cards. The effort of choosing a specific card, writing a personalised message and sending it to their own homes is sure to bring a smile in otherwise lonely days.
At Joanne’s gallery, we are taking all the measures we can in order to make this gifting process the most versatile for your own specific needs. While the gallery is closed the large choice of greeting cards available to look at on Joanne’s website means that finding the card with the perfect memories and emotions attached has never been easier. Whether your chosen recipient is a wildlife lover or missing their usual visits to the coast, bringing the outside indoors with a colourful design is one of our main goals here at Joanne Wishart. We are also providing a 15% discount on retail card sales on the website during April, using the code ‘SENDACARD’. There’s also no need to worry if you are self isolating or in a vulnerable group, and cannot post the card yourself, as we are offering a service where we can handwrite the cards with your own personal message and send them directly to the recipient.
We are also concerned with reducing disease transmission, and giving you the greatest confidence in the products you purchase. Therefore, we are making it the utmost priority to maintain hygiene during the delivery process. That’s why we ensure that our cards are posted directly into the post box without queuing at the post office, in order to adhere to social distancing measures. A message released by the World Health Organisation states that “The likelihood of an infected person contaminating commercial goods is low and the risk of catching the virus that causes COVID-19 from a package that has been moved, travelled, and exposed to different conditions and temperature is also low.” We hope that this gives a sense of comfort that gifting your perhaps vulnerable loved ones will not put them at risk.
In this time of great upheaval, change, and anxiety for everyone, especially for small businesses - we want to offer our most sincere thanks to our loyal customers for their support in this challenging time. Hopefully we will see you all in the gallery again soon, and that you are all staying healthy and well.
